By India Today Web Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday greeted the nation on the occasion of Chhath Puja. During his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat', PM Modi said, "Today, 'Chhath', the great festival of sun worship is being celebrated in many parts of the country. I pray that Chhath Maiya bless everyone with prosperity and well-being."

"Friends, the tradition of worshiping the Sun is a proof of how deep our culture, our faith, is related to nature. Through this puja the importance of sunlight in our life has been illustrated," he added.
He further said, "Another special thing about Chhath Puja is that the items used for worship are prepared by myriad people of the society together. In this, a basket or supli made of bamboo is used. Earthen lamps have their own significance."
SOLAR ENERGY AND SPACE SECTOR
Talking about solar energy, PM Modi said, "In solar energy, India has become one of the leading countries in the world. The way solar energy is transforming the lives of the poor and middle classes is a matter of study."

"In Modhera village in Gujarat, almost all houses use solar energy to fulfil their electricity needs. People there are not only making use of electricity through solar energy but also earning out of it," he said.
PM Modi further said that India is doing wonders in the solar sector as well as the space sector.
"India is doing wonders in the space sector as well. The whole world, today, is astonished to see the achievements of India. After the space sector was opened for India’s youth, revolutionary changes started coming into it," he said.
He stated that Indian industries and start-ups are bringing new innovations & technologies in this field.
PM Modi said, "Student power is the basis of making India powerful. It’s the youth of today, who will take India to new heights in the coming years."
PM Modi said that in the coming days, many states will also celebrate their Statehood day.
"In the coming days, many states will also celebrate their Statehood day. Andhra Pradesh will celebrate its foundation day; Kerala Piravi will be celebrated. Karnataka Rajyotsava will be celebrated. I convey my best wishes to the people of all these states," he said.
