Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra ended Bollywood’s lean run at the box office, and R Balki’s psychological thriller Chup: Revenge of the Artist is here to maintain the momentum. Given the success that it is enjoying at the box office and the positive reviews it has garnered online, the Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, Shreya Dhanwanthary, and Pooja Bhatt starrer has given movie buffs another reason to rejoice. While the audience is praising the performance and the gripping narrative of the multi-starrer, here are a few psychological thrillers available on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and more that are a treat for mystery lovers.

Ace filmmaker Sriram Raghavan won over the audience with his 2004 psychological thriller Ek Hasina Thi starring Urmila Matondkar and Saif Ali Khan. While the film is said to be inspired by Sidney Sheldon’s crime novel If Tomorrow Comes, mystery lovers can enjoy the psychological thriller on Amazon Prime Video.

Helmed by Abhay Chopra, Ittefaq featured Akshaye Khanna teaming up with Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha. While the trio set the stage ablaze with their stellar performance, it was the gripping storyline of a double murder mystery that keeps the audience hooked till the very end.

Well, the Bobby Deol, Kajol, and Manisha Koirala starrer is a treat for all mystery genre lovers. Touted as one of the best ’90s mystery thriller movies in Hindi cinema, filmmaker Rajiv Rai’s Gupt: The Hidden Truth gave a glimpse of what could happen when love for someone crosses all boundaries.

Here’s another blast from the past. Legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra brought talented actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, and Sunny Deol together for his unconventional love story. While the plot of the movie revolves around Rahul’s (essayed by SRK) one-sided love for Kiran (played by Juhi), the well-known filmmaker gave everyone a glimpse of how love can also turn into a violent obsession.

Popular TV actor Rajeev Khandelwal joined forces with Tina Desai and Paresh Rawal for Aditya Datt’s psychological thriller Table No. 21 in 2013. Despite poor box office collection, the film manages to keep the audience on the edge of their seats as a couple faces a series of tasks that get difficult with each level. The Bollywood entertaining thriller is a good option if you like R. Balki’s Chup: Revenge of the Artist. Currently available on ZEE5, Table No. 21 also manages to touch upon a social issue like ragging.

One of the highly rated Indian psychological thriller movies on IMDb, Manichithrathazhu has been remade in several languages (Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Bengali). The 1993 Malayalam movie starred Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, and Shobana in lead roles, and won multiple National Film Awards.

Natalie Portman delivers a breathtaking performance in filmmaker Darren Aronofsky’s 2010 psychological horror Black Swan. While her character battles with Lily (essayed by Mila Kunis), their competition takes an ugly turn when Nina (Natalie) starts losing her grip on reality.

Martin Scorsese’s 1976 psychological thriller Taxi Driver left the audience wanting for more. Robert De Niro delivered the best performance of his life, essaying the role of an unstable war veteran who works as a taxi driver at night. With a rating of 8.2 on IMDb, Taxi Driver deserves a special mention on this list.

If you liked R. Balki’s Chup: Revenge of the Artist, then the Spanish drama Durante la Tormenta (also known as Mirage) is sure to strike a chord with you instantly. While the lead actress travels back in time and saves a kid, she ends up dealing with the disappearance of her own daughter in the present. Starring Adriana Ugarte, Álvaro Morte, Chino Darín, and Javier Gutiérrez, the Orial Paulo directorial is a must-watch for the fans of mystery genre.
